What is the difference between a hotel and a hostel?

Nowadays, there are many types of hostels, each with different characteristics. Some resemble hotels, while others are completely different. The main difference between a hotel and a hostel is that the hotel only offers private rooms, while hostels offer private and shared rooms with beds for several people. Dormitories can be small or large, for women only, men only, or mixed.

In the case of Hostal Mexiquillo, we only offer private rooms some with a private bathroom (inside the room) and others with a shared bathroom (outside the room).

The atmosphere of hostels is very different from that of a hotel. Hotels are limited to offering a place to spend the night, while hostels have a more communal atmosphere. Guests share common spaces such as the kitchen, TV room, bonfire, children’s games, etc. In addition, parties, excursions, and activities are organized that encourage coexistence among guests and allow them to make new friends.

In dormitories, it is easier to talk to other travelers and exchange tips, information, and other points of view. This is a unique experience found only in hostels, which guests at Hostal Mexiquillo can enjoy along with the option of staying in private rooms with bathrooms for those who prefer more privacy.
